Principal Casting
At Katz Kasting, our goal is to help you cast each and every role in your project with professional talent that can effectively connect the viewer with the character that they are portraying. We understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and fluctuating budgets, but beyond that, we know that the talent/character connection is key to your success.
In order to maximize marketability, we do our best to ensure that no matter what your budget, your project is cast with talent that will enable positive buzz and publicity both during the filming and for its release.
We also understand what actors need to succeed. We provide talent with a comfortable relaxed setting that gives actors a low pressure atmosphere for their auditions, allowing them to perform at their absolute best. This enables us to get a much firmer grasp on what the finished product will be.
It’s your project. No matter how many other people get involved, it will remain your project and we know that no one will work as hard as you do to make it a success. We share your vision and passion as we work through the audition and casting process with you. We have put a system into place that will allow you to be as involved in the pre-audition process as you desire.
Our process involves:
· casting notices sent through agents and managers as well as reputable venues that have shown us high success rates in reaching top-notch talent.
· pre-screening of each applicant. We do not want to waste anyone’s time or resources. We only select those who appear to be most fitting for the role(s) to attend a scheduled audition.
· Highly specialized callback sessions that have been developed to allow additional time needed with a select group of actors before final selection is made.
Once we have gone through this process, we make our recommendations based on several factors we have learned over our years of casting.
Previous work with Actor:
- Are they on time to set?
- Are they flexible with schedules?
- Are they personable, and easy to get along with on set?
- Do they come to set prepared, and take direction well?
No previous experience- based on Audition setting only:
- Were they on time to audition & call back?
- Were they prepared?
- Were they professional?
- Were they conscious of the time restrictions or were they chatty-cathy?
- Do they look good on camera, and perform well in front of an audience?
- Did they make a connection to the character that caused me to feel an emotion of some sort?
No matter what our recommendations may be, the final decision always rests within your hands. This is your project and we are here to help you succeed. You will never feel pressure from us to hire a specific actor because they are a "friend" or because they work in the casting office.
From audition to final selection, we handle all talent inquiries, agent communications, and paperwork. This includes deal memos, SAG forms, Station 12, or Taft Hartley. Upon final selection we provide you with a completed cast list that contains all necessary contact information and a talent packet (consisting of copies of each actors headshot) for the Producer, Director, and Set Costumer.
