PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Casting 9 actors for Vision Bible, an upcoming multi-year TBN initiative bringing the Bible to life.
This one-day shoot will capture short dramatic Scripture scenes for proof-of-concept, technical testing, and promotional materials for broadcast and web.
Actors will perform in modern dress on a neutral grey-stage environment. Biblical environments, period costumes, hair/makeup elements, lighting, and other visual elements will be created in post-production, including the use of generative AI technology.
The actor’s identity, voice, and actual performance will remain unchanged.
Dialogue is taken word-for-word from Scripture and must be performed verbatim. Strong actors who are comfortable with elevated language, extended monologues, and performing against off-camera voices or visual elements that will be added later are encouraged to submit.
Traditional Middle Eastern / Mediterranean appearance is a plus. Certain physical characteristics, including hair, eye, and skin tone, may be adjusted in post-production.
ROLES
MOSES — Male, 70–80 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADA weathered shepherd who finds himself face-to-face with the presence of God. Humble, reluctant, and deeply human—not a commanding prophet yet. The scene moves through awe, fear, disbelief, questioning, and ultimately pleading with God to choose someone else. Requires a strong actor who can create a compelling emotional journey while reacting to an unseen presence and visual effects that will be added in post.
ABIGAIL — Female, 28–38 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADIntelligent, beautiful, poised, courageous, and an exceptionally skilled negotiator. She approaches an armed and furious David knowing that her words may be the only thing preventing bloodshed. Her extended speech should feel urgent and deeply personal rather than recited—she is thinking quickly, reading David, and strategically changing his mind while remaining respectful and composed. Excellent command of language required.
DAVID / KING DAVID — Male, 27–35 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADCharismatic, physical, passionate, and capable of both danger and vulnerability. As younger David, he is a fugitive commander arriving with hundreds of armed men and fully intending revenge until Abigail changes his course. As King David, he is older, powerful and accustomed to authority—but Nathan's confrontation takes him from righteous anger to defensiveness, threat, realization, and devastating remorse. Requires significant dramatic range and a commanding screen presence. Actor will portray both ages; digital aging may be utilized.
NATHAN — Male, 55–70 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADA wise and fearless prophet confronting one of the most powerful men in Israel. Nathan begins as a storyteller, drawing David completely into the parable before revealing its true purpose: “You are that man.” He does not back down even when David rises and reaches for his sword. Requires quiet authority, emotional control, excellent command of lengthy dialogue, and the ability to hold tremendous power without overplaying it.
MARY — Female, 16–20 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADYoung, grounded, sincere, and emotionally open. Mary experiences extraordinary circumstances with genuine human reactions—fear and uncertainty followed by acceptance, wonder, joy, and faith. Her Magnificat is an extended passage that should feel like thoughts and emotions pouring out in the moment, not a memorized speech or formal recitation. Looking for a strong young actor who can make the Biblical language feel natural, personal, and heartfelt.
GABRIEL — Male, 30–45 — Any ethnicity — SUPPORTINGAn angelic presence who is commanding yet gentle, reassuring Mary while delivering extraordinary news with absolute certainty. Should possess natural authority, warmth, stillness, and presence without becoming overly theatrical or ceremonial. Must make heightened Biblical dialogue feel immediate and conversational.
ELIZABETH — Female, 58–70 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — SUPPORTINGWarm, wise, maternal, and filled with spontaneous joy when Mary arrives. Elizabeth immediately understands the significance of what is happening and responds with overwhelming recognition, affection, and faith. Requires emotional warmth and a natural, grounded delivery of heightened language. Actor must be comfortable portraying six months pregnant and wearing a pregnancy prosthetic if needed.
THE RICH MAN — Male, 40–55 — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — LEADA wealthy aristocrat who once lived in luxury and now finds himself in unbearable torment. This is a highly emotional performance requiring physical and vocal intensity without becoming melodramatic. His desperation evolves from pleading for relief for himself to urgently begging Abraham to save his brothers from the same fate. Strong dramatic and physical acting ability required.
ABRAHAM — Male, 70+ — Middle Eastern / Ethnically Ambiguous — SUPPORTINGA patriarchal presence who is warm, grave, compassionate, and unwavering. He sees the Rich Man's suffering and responds with empathy, but the truth he delivers cannot be changed. Requires quiet authority and emotional depth—the strength of the performance should come from stillness and certainty rather than anger or judgment.
